- Intent to sole source The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) FSL's perform regulatory testing of meat, poultry and egg products for the presence of food borne pathogens and sanitary indicator organisms. Identification of foodborne pathogens relies on the use of a bacterial identification test system that uses two types of test cards, one for gram negative organisms (GN) and one for gram positive organisms (GP). Use of the GN and GP cards on the Vitek®2 platform is part of the official regulatory method. To meet these regulatory test requirements, the TSL's need GN and GP test cards compatible with the automatic platform validated for use as part of FSIS regulatory methodology.
