Description
This is a Request for Information (RFI). This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, request for bids or quotations, nor, a promise to issue a solicitation in the future. The purpose of this RFI is to obtain knowledge and information for project planning purposes only. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has interest in, and is seeking, information regarding vendors capable of providing Numbering Head spare parts. These spare parts are utilized in the Bureau's Numbering Head System that is responsible for functions such as imprinting serial numbers on currency notes. The OEM for the Bureau's Numbering Head System is Zieser, Inc. formerly Atlantic Zeiser and has provided the spare parts and any associated support to the Bureau for the last 10+ years. The Number Head System is an integral part of the Bureau's large volume currency production infrastructure. This RFI is to determine if there are other vendors capable of providing the needed spare parts, please refer to section 3.1.14 Item Chart in the attached draft SOW for a list of these parts and their descriptions. These parts are considered mission critical as their support the Bureau's currency production capabilities. Thus, these spare parts have to be timely delivered and fully operable out the box, if not, the Bureau's mission critical operations are subjected to escalated risk. The proposed NAICS code is 33324; the accompanying size standards in number of employees is 750. Interested vendors should submit a capability statement of no more than 20 pages addressing the following: 1.) Technical ability to provide the listed spare parts (descriptions are listed next to the item numbers) in the ITEM Chart, 3.1.14 listed in the draft SOW. 2.) Address key deliverables in the draft SOW. 3.) Warranty: The production of the United States currency demands the highest quality and integrity and is a mission critical operation for the Bureau. Thus, a vendor should be able to ensure the quality of its product. Please address plans, warranties, and ability to deal with defective parts, and your ability to ensure the quality of the items needed. 4.) Delivery and Shipping: Currency production is a daily operation. Key to continued operations is having parts when expected and that these parts must arrive timely and be operable. Please address your ability to meet tight deadlines, delivery schedules, and ability to ensure that the Bureau's operations continue without disruption due to inoperable or late delivered parts. 5.) Your business continuum operations plan: The Bureau's currency production function is a mission critical operation and production is a 24 hours operations. As stated, parts have to be available when needed to ensure continued operations of the Bureau's processes, please speak to your continuum plan (in case of disaster either natural and or human factors induced) that would ensure that the Bureau will receive its items and in a timely manner. 6.) Provide any past performance references, if applicable, in which you can display that you have provided the same or similar items within a high volume currency production infrastructure successfully. Also, you must include the following in your capability statement: NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (04-DEC-2018); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
