- The Department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Network Contracting Office 6, Hampton VA 23667, intends to negotiate a sole source Firm-Fixed Price contract for the procurement of a Ventana HE600 System (06917259001) for the Asheville VAMC with Roche Diagnostics Corporation, in accordance with 41 U.S.C. §3304(a)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 Only One Responsible Source. This is not a request for competitive offers and no solicitation is available. Market research has determined that this equipment is highly specialized, is only available from a single source without an unacceptable delay or duplication of cost and no other type of items will satisfy agency requirements. The Government intends to award the contract with an effective date of 9 January 2019 to Roche Diagnostics Corporation., 915 Hague Road, Indianapolis, IN, 46256. DUNS: 001824663. This is a Brand-Name Only requirement to satisfy the minimum requirements of the Asheville VAMC. The HE60O is a 3-in-1 machine. It houses the oven for drying slides after microtomy, 3 staining modules and the coverslipper. All reagents are packaged so that there is no dumping or filling containers. Each reagent can be loaded directly on the machine. Waste goes directly from the machine into the drain, eliminating waste disposal fees. The HE600 does not use alcohol. The HE600 does not use distilled (DI) water, which prevents complete shut-down of staining operations when the DI water to the lab is turned off. This synopsis announcement is being issued for information purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or request for competitive proposals. Respondents who submit proprietary data shall clearly mark the data with appropriate markings. The Government will not pay for any information submitted as a result of this synopsis.
