Description
Solicitation #: N00173-19-RFI-AL02 Procurement Type: Sources Sought Title: Strontium Optical Lattice Clock Laser System Classification Code: 58 - Communication, detection, and coherent radiation equipment NAICS Code: 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing Response Date: January 14, 2019 Primary Point of Contact: Anastasia Lenfest, Contract Specialist, Anastasia.Lenfest@nrl.navy.mil, Phone: 202-404-3557 Description: This is a request for information (RFI) issued by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) for information and planning purposes only. This is neither a formal Request for Proposals or Quotes (RFP or RFQ). No awards will be made from the responses to this announcement. The Government will not reimburse any costs associated with the development and submission of materials in response to this request. There is no solicitation available at this time. However, should a requirement materialize, no basis for claims against NRL shall arise as a result of a response to this notice or NRL's use of such information as either part of our evaluation process or in developing specifications for any subsequent requirement. Objective: The NRL is inquiring for potential sources that are capable of providing the following: Strontium Optical Lattice Clock Laser System. NRL Advanced Space PNT branch (Code 8150) requires a complete turnkey solution for the laser system required to produce a strontium (Sr) optical lattice clock. This system will include a self-referenced femtosecond frequency comb with control of the CEO frequency, an ultra-stable laser system to interrogate the 698.4 nm clock transition of Sr atoms trapped in an optical lattice and all the continuous-wave lasers required for two-stage cooling of Sr in a magneto-optical trap as well as an optical lattice laser at the magic wavelength. The system will include all of the electronics for driving the lasers system and performing the laser locks for frequency comb self-referencing and for locking the frequency comb to the clock laser. The system will also include all the electronics for driving the cw lasers systems and performing laser locks of the cw lasers to either the frequency comb or a high-resolution wavemeter. The system will be integrated and characterized at the factory to verify specifications of the completed system. The unit will be shipped and reassembled to working order at NRL site and include on-site training. The complete unit will provide controls for all locks, system parameters and diagnostics from a central control unit or computer GUI. The parameters must be accessible with external commands so that the system can be utilized in an experimental sequence suitable for producing a Sr clock interrogation cycle. Laser specifications: QNTY (1) Femto-second optical frequency comb: Self-referenced femtosecond optical frequency comb with phase lock electronics to stabilize repetition rate and CEO frequency Comb spacing greater than 80 MHz 4 fCEO free high measurement port outputs Power greater than 10 mW each output or Beatnote between comb line and continuous wave laser to be locked greater than 30dB Bandwidth greater than 20 nm each output Short term stability of 1E-16 at one second Long-term stability of 3E-18 at 1000s Complete automated system that qualifies for 24h/7d operation User software, counter, PC and displays for system control and data acquisition NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (08-JAN-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE. PLEASE CONTACT 877-472-3779 or fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
