- Target specifications for electron analyzer DA-30: - Energy resolution: < 1.8 meV FWHM at 2 eV pass energy and 20 eV kinetic energy - Pass energies: 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 eV - Transmission mode lens acceptance: +/- 19 degrees - Angular modes: ± 3.5°, ± 7°, ± 15°* - Deflection mode Line scan range as Theta angles. 3 modes: x ± 15°, y ± 12°; x ± 7°, y ± 7°; x ± 3.5°, y ± 3.5° - Deflection mode Spin scan range as Theta angles. 3 modes: x ± 15°, y ± 15°; x ± 7°, y ± 7°; x ± 3.5°, y ± 3.5° - Angular resolution: < 0.1 degree from 0.1 mm spot - Transmission mode energy range: 0.5 eV - 1 500 eV - Angular mode energy range: 3 eV - 1 500 eV - Deflection mode energy range: 3 eV - 200 eV - Working distance: 34 mm - 40 mm diameter MCP detector system - Bakeable to max 150 degrees C Specifications of the FERRUM detectors: - Spin detection based on exchange scattering at an oxidised iron film at 6.3eV scattering energy. - Sherman function : S > 22% (achieved: 0.29 ) - Reflectivity (I/I0): R > 7,5 % (achieved 10.6 %) - Fe-film is prepared and oxidised on a W(100) substrate in situ. - Easy handling of W-substrate preparation, Fe-film evaporation and oxygen dosing. - Lifetime of oxidized iron-film: several weeks. - Two channeltrons, for spin-resolved and for integral intensity counting are used. - Integral intensity is measured with the electron beam deflected electrostatically. - Two pairs of coils are used to switch the detector magnetization in ± x and ± y to access two orthogonal spin components. - No mechanical manipulation to switch between the two channeltrons or the four different magnetization directions of the detector. - Double mu-metal shielded for optimum operation at very low scattering energies.
