Description

This notice serves as a notice of intent. The statutory authority permitting sole sourcing for this acquisition is 10 United States Code (U.S.C.) 2304 (c)(1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 - Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Directorate of Contracting intends to insert a brand name specification, for Rauland-Borg Nurse Call and Code Blue System, into a design-bid-build, firm fixed price (FFP) contract for the Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) located in Canandaigua, NY. This phase of the project will consist of construction of a 120 bed Community Living Center (CLC) complex and a Community Center; renovation of Building 9 for Domiciliary; renovation of Buildings 3, 4, and 5 to support outpatient functions; and demolition of Buildings 33 and 34. This project will also include infrastructure enhancements and site development work, such as utilities, parking and landscaping. The design calls for the installation of a Rauland-Borg Nurse Call and Code Blue System similar to the existing Rauland-Borg Nurse Call and Code Blue System used at the VAMC Canandaigua campus currently. The integration of a newly installed Rauland-Borg Nurse Call and Code Blue System into the existing campus wide nurse call system is critical to maintaining the overall integrity of the medical center's nurse call system. The existing Rauland-Borg Nurse Call and Code Blue System is Proprietary and any new nurse call and code blue equipment that is added/connected to the existing systems must be Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listed and labeled. Currently, there is no UL listing for an nurse call and code blue system comprised of non-Rauland-Borg equipment connected to a Rauland-Borg Nurse Call and Code Blue System.
