- Description
- IGF::OT::IGF This task supports the United States Department of Energy (DOE) Versatile Test Reactor (VTR) Program, which is in the early stages of developing a fast spectrum neutron test reactor capability. This capability will expand both the theoretical and practical knowledge of nuclear physics, chemistry and materials science. A formal analysis of alternatives will be conducted by DOE and the Contractor following completion of the scoping period to identify appropriate alternatives to be used for the NEPA evaluation. Once the NEPA process is complete and if there is a positive decision to proceed, a final design will be completed and construction of the VTR will begin. By statute, reactor startup is projected to occur by December 31, 2025. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (21-FEB-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
