- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Boston Healthcare System, has a requirement for a Leica True Confocal Scanning SP8 FALCON System. The system includes a White laser that allows tunability and flexibility in excitation and emission collection in multiple channels. Additionally, VA requires the capabilities for Light Sheet microscopy to image large tissues and adaptive intelligence technology providing super-resolution imaging with fast data acquisition. This system is required to enhance imaging core capabilities and accelerate discovery in neurodegenerative diseases. The Government requires a state-of-the-art true confocal system designed to provide high-quality-microscopy of small and large samples with increased sensitivity and faster throughput with super-resolution imaging. It is the Government s intention to solicit and negotiate only with Leica Microsystems, Inc, GSA FSS Contract Number GS-07F-139CA. A valid Brand Name Justification is in effect. The anticipated value of this requirement is approximately $600,000. Only the Leica SP8 confocal system can generate fast image acquisition with excellent resolution reliably with the use of cutting-edge sCMOS cameras compatible with pco.edge sCMOS camera and the ORCA-flash 4.0 V2 by Hamamatsu that are both fully integrated into the LAS X LightSheet Wizard. The new xyzt scan mode in the LAS X software acquires time series of single planes, which can be fused to a 4D movie afterwards. The Leica SP8 allows for tracking of very fast periodic movements, that are too fast to follow with conventional time-lapse recordings of z stacks. The Leica SP8 confocal system enables VA to perform subsequent gentle long-term observations with enhanced convenience and ease of use. The Leica SP8 confocal system via the use of integrated Digital LightSheet module into the vertical axis of the TCS SP8 accelerates the process of sample preparation using standard petri dishes. The system offers the capability of imaging multiple spheroids in one experiment and ensures highly productive long-term observation. This is not a solicitation; it is a sources sought announcement seeking Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) or Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) with the capability of providing this equipment system. Any SDVOSB or VOSB responding to this announcement shall be compliant with the following: In order to be considered under the VA Rule of Two under 38 U.S.C. 8127(d), SDVOSB and VOSB firms must meet the eligibility requirements in 38 U.S.C. 8127(e), (f) and VAAR 819.7003 and be listed as verified in the Vendor Information Pages (VIP) database at https://www.vip.vetbiz.va.gov/. Inquiries/information received after the established deadline shall not be considered. The Government does not intend to pay for information solicited. All communications shall be via email; no telephone calls will be accepted. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (22-FEB-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
