- NOTICE OF INTENT MAGNETOMETER This is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source. The US Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a purchase order to GeoMetrics, Inc. in San Jose, CA for a Magnotometer as described in the following Salient Characteristics: - Main Capsule to contain - Two total field magnetometers - GPS sensor - IMU sensor including compass, accelerometer, and gyrosensors - Rechargeable battery - Weight not to exceed 1 kg - Precision to be at least 0.005 nT rms/square root Hz - Heading error not to exceed 5 nT - GPS accuracy to be at least 1 m - Sampling rate at least 1000 Hz Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled "Acquisition of Commercial Items" and FAR Part 13 entitled "Simplified Acquisition Procedures." GeoMetrics, Inc. is, to the knowledge of the USGS, the only source who can provide a Magnetometer that meets all of the required Salient Characteristics as indicted by the lack of responses to a previous Sources Sought post. The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the agency. No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and associated size standard 1,000 employees apply to this announcement. Responses or inquiries shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to capplegate@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than 03/06/2019. Responses submitted by hardcopy or the FedConnect web portal or the FedConnect Message Center shall not be accepted or considered.
