- Title: Contract for Case Western Reserve University Computerized game-based vestibular rehabilitation: assessment of feasibility and motor learning Statement of Work CWRU will contribute substantially to the VA SPIRE Research study entitled Computerized game-based vestibular rehabilitation: assessment of feasibility and motor learning. Under the direct supervision of Dr. Michael Fu and Dr. Mark Walker, CWRU will work on the virtual-reality game development and programming in Unity. Background The APTC is one of 13 designated Centers in the Rehabilitation Research and Development (RR&D) Service of the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Established in 2005 as collaboration between the LSCDVAMC and CWRU, the APT Center focuses on applying the most recent advancements in microelectronics, material science, microfabrication, wireless communication and mechanical design to the pressing medical needs of disabled Veterans and translating them into viable clinical options. Investigators, project staff and support specialists associated with the Center concentrate their professional effort on translational research in the areas of: Prosthetics and Orthotics, Health Monitoring and Maintenance, Neural Interfacing, and Emerging Enabling Technologies. Objectives CWRU will develop and test a novel interactive virtual-reality game for vestibular rehabilitation that will incorporate the following key features: Precisely graded vestibular exercises that are customized to each patient s level of impairment. Progression of the exercise program based on quantitative measures of improvement Feedback to the patient to optimize therapy Tracking of the patient s compliance with exercises and performance gains. Period of Performance The period of performance shall begin on or about April 1, 2019 March 31, 2020 and include 1 option year (April 1, 2020 March 31, 2021) or date of signed contract. 5. Deliverables The performance of the work will be supervised by Dr. Michael Fu and Dr. Mark Walker, Principal Investigators. Other deliverables will include the developed application software, internal technical reports, abstracts and posters at professional scientific meetings, contributions to future grant submissions, and submission of publications in peer-reviewed journals. 6.
