Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), requires replacement of broken laser interrogators developed and manufactured by Optasense. This equipment is a critical component of the Border Tunnel Activity Detection System - Linear (BTAD-L) and Linear Sensing System (LSS). The old interrogator units' internal parts are obsolete and are no longer supported for repair. Optasense is the original developer and manufacturer of the laser interrogators used by Army in theater and used by ERDC in research and development of the Border Tunnel Activity Detection System (BTADS-L) and the Linear Sensing System (LSS). The Optasense laser interrogator has been a critical component of these tunnel detection systems since their inception, and is compatible with the BTADS-L/LSS software and other components. Army soldiers and FSRs have been trained on and are familiar with this technology. Also, this purchase agreement allows the ERDC to trade in six of the existing, broken Optasense laser interrogators for a 60% discount on one new Optasense OLA 2.1 laser interrogator. The ERDC intends to issue an award to Optasense, Inc.(dba. Redfern Integrated Optics.), 3350 Scott Blvd, Bldg #1, Santa Clara, CA 95054 (CAGE Code: 7DBG0), on a sole source basis. It has been determined that the required purchase of laser interrogators can only be acquired by Optasense, Inc. due to proprietary nature of the systems. The award will be issued in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b). The NAICS code for this requirement is 334413 with a size standard of 500 employees. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (15-MAR-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE. PLEASE CONTACT 877-472-3779 or fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
