Description

The United States Congress utilizes a Legislative Call System (LCS) to inform Congressional members of proceedings which are about to take place in the chambers while conducting Legislative business. In 2004, The Architect of the Capitol implemented a wireless LCS to replace an old and aging "hard-wired" electro-mechanical legislative call system which was built and deployed in the early 1960s.The existing system is controlled using a custom Graphical User Interface (GUI), operated on a touch screen tablet. The House of Representatives (House) and the Senate Secretary individually operates a separate tablet, each tablet sends the commands to a code generator that encrypts, then sends it to a common Transmitter that broadcasts the signal campus wide via RF. Currently, the RF clock signal is received and displayed via a custom analog or digital face clock with LCS call system LEDs that light up according to the "call sign" and buzzer that signals for each light count.
