Description
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION Cytotechnologist Services The Network Contracting Office (NCO) 12, Great Lakes Acquisition Center (GLAC) is seeking one contractor to furnish Cytotechnologist within the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service Line (PLMS). Services at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital, 5000 South 5th Avenue, Hines, Illinois under the authority of FAR 13.5, Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial items. QUALIFICATIONS OF PERSONNEL The contractor assigned to perform services under this task order shall: Hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Have successfully completed a CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program. Hold Cytotechnologist (CT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Must have a minimum of 1-year creditable experience within the last 5 years. Creditable experience includes: screening cytology slides; performing fine needle aspiration (FNA) assessments, processing and staining specimens using appropriate methods; discussing clinical implications related to specimens; calculating and correlating test results; making subjective interpretive diagnoses; and troubleshooting equipment and instruments. English Language Proficiency WORK SCHEDULE The contractor will be required to furnish services full-time Monday through Friday, with a start time between 7:00am and 8:30am. The contractor will not be required to work weekends or federal holidays. 4. RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains standards of cytology that conform to requirements of accreditation agencies. Follows laboratory safety procedures, to include proper disposal of all infectious specimen materials. Receives cytology specimens and checks container and request forms for completeness. Assists in the collection of fine needle aspiration specimens and assesses specimens for cellular adequacy. Process and stains all specimens using appropriate methods. Screens prepared gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, including FNAs. Marks atypical, suspicious, or malignant cells and refers to a staff pathologist for further review. Prepares reagents and verifies correct instrument operation. Maintains Cytotechnologist screening workload statistics and other workload data. Establishes and performs quality control procedures to check accuracy and validity of test results, as needed Prepares annual reports and generates monthly tumor registry search, as needed. The resultant contract will consist of a one contract with an anticipated award date of May 1, 2019. All interested parties who believe they can satisfy the solicitation requirements are invited to provide a response to this Request For Information (RFI). This Request for Information shall not be considered as a request for proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of the contractor submission of this Request for Information or the Government's use of such information. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any contractor's input resulting from this Request for Information. No contract will be awarded as a result of this announcement.
