Description

NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate a contract on a sole source basis with Biotek Instruments, Inc., Winooski, VT. The purpose of the contract is for the contractor to supply Biotek's brand of Cytation TM 5 Hybrid Multi-Mode Reader to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD). Cytation TM 5 is a modular, upgradable multi-mode reader that combines automated digital microscopy and conventional microplate detection. Cytation TM 5 includes both filter and monochromator-based detection; the microscopy module provides up to 60x magnification in fluorescence, brightfield, H&E and phase contrast. Incubation to 65 C, shaking and Gen5 software are standard. The NIDCD needs this instrument for use of existing fluorescence, absorbance and luminescence reagent panels, and for comparison of newly collected data with previously collected data using the old BioTek Multi-Mode Reader instrument which is no longer supported for maintenance and does not have current state of the art instrumentation and sensitivity, which Cytation TM 5 offers.
