The following salient characteristics must be met. The following are the required characteristics, functional and performance specifications for the requested item. Salient Characteristics Must be able to make a cytology slide using liquid based cytology Must be an automated slide preparation unit Must produce uniform thin-layer slides free of obscuring artifacts such as blood, mucus and inflammation Uses a rotary drive mechanism to gently disperse samples through steps that break up blood, mucus, and non-diagnostic debris. Once broken up, the specimen is thoroughly mixed for homogenization. Uses a pneumatic/ fluidic system controlled by a microprocessor to monitor cell collection. The instrument then draws fluid through a special polycarbonate filter that collects a thin, even layer of diagnostic cellular material. Constantly monitors the rate of flow through the filter during the collection process to prevent the cellular presentation from being too scant or too dense. Collection of the cells on the surface occurs when a vacuum is applied. Transfer of cells to the slides occurs when the filter is pressed against the slide. Produces a 20 mm diameter circle of cells on the slides Uses mechanical, pneumatic and fluidic principles for cell dispersion, collection and transfer. Has a throughput of 25 samples per hour. Does not require a centrifuge Does not require a computer-controlled robotic pipette Is a light-weight countertop automated instrument with a small footprint. Weight is not more than 45 lbs Dimensions: 18 w x 15 d x 19.5 h Power requirements: 100/120 VAC at 2 amps, 47-63 Hz, 200 watts max DISCLAIMER This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation.
