- a. The Contractor shall provide Chinese language courses at two levels and train the students from an ACTFL rating of Novice High to Intermediate Low/Mid-levels, or beyond, depending on the entry level of individual students, equal to one-semester course work in the Chinese language curriculum in U.S. Naval Academy. b. A course/training plan shall be provided via email by the Contractor to LSAP Chinese manager and to the students during the first week of training which outlines objectives and anticipated milestones. c. The Contractor, under the guidance of the USNA faculty and supervision, shall provide training which includes a minimum of 72 hours of classroom teaching of the Chinese language by following the syllabi developed by the Chinese faculty in the U.S. Naval Academy, employing the textbooks selected by the Chinese faculty in U.S. Naval Academy, and being supervised by the Chinese faculty in U.S. Naval Academy, and a minimum of 30 hours of individual instruction, (totaling five hours a day, five days a week for four weeks) in additional to 8 hours of cultural classes on topics related to the history, culture and economy of China. Contractor shall provide necessary resources and training materials. d. The Contractor shall provide 2 to 3 hours of daily independent study (homework), Sunday through Thursday. e. The Contractor shall provide local cultural excursions as arranged. f. The Contractor shall provide cultural excursion to one of several possible places including Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing, and Xi ™An. Contract price includes all transportation, hotel stay, and all meals on the excursion. N0018919Q0206 Page g. The Contractor shall provide the lodging to the Midshipmen in the double occupancy rooms in furnished apartments hotels in which all their program students are housed. h. Contractor shall provide all in-country transportation, including, but not limited to: i. Transportation between the Airport and the Contractor Facility ii. Local transportation to cultural excursions, as needed. iii. Transportation during the overnight cultural excursions, as specified. i. The Contractor shall provide students with free internet access, administrative support, and safety training. j. The Contractor shall provide welcome and farewell dinners and all the meals during cultural excursions. k. The Contractor shall provide the results of assessments of at the end of the program. l. Contractor shall allow the USNA faculty escort access to classrooms and other facilities for the purposes of maintaining desired standards of learning.
