Description
INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE FAR 6.302-1(c) Network Contracting Office (NCO) 2, Department of Veterans Affairs intends to award a firm-fixed price sole source contract to Skylands Area Fire Equipment & Training LLC, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(c): "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The proposed procurement is for the purchase of eight sets of fire fighter turnout coats and pants. Protective clothing provided by Skylands Area Fire Equipment and Training (SAFE-T) [distributor for Honeywell], is compliant with NFPA 1971 and relies heavily on research and development to improve wear ability and functionality by the end user. Their Industry trademarked knee-padding and pocket, cuff, knee reinforcements that enhance longevity of equipment and facilitate firefighter comfort under harsh conditions increasing firefighter safety. The current use of Morning Pride Brand turnout gear at the Lyons Fire Department will require no further training or changes to current policy with the purchase of this brand equipment. Skylands/SAFE-T is the regions distributor for Honeywell, and is and authorized distributor of Honeywell for sizing, tailoring, delivery, and assistance. They are located within close geographical distance of the facility where sizing will be required to be taken. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 315210 and the size standard is 750 employees. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. The Government will consider responses received by 4:00pm Eastern on April 19, 2019. Inquiries will only be accepted via email to lynn.krakowiak@va.gov. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future.
