Description

U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) seeks information regarding a medical device that decreases intrathoracic pressure, leading to an increase in blood circulation. The technology should be broadly applicable to the military population, be non-invasive to the patient, and be beneficial to low-blood volume patients. This Request for Information (RFI) addresses the need to enhance circulation to tissues of the body by providing an intrathoracic pressure regulation therapy (IPRT) in non-spontaneously breathing ventilated patients as prescribed by a physician, licensed practitioner, or qualified technician. The technology will be used, in conjunction with ventilators, at Forward Resuscitative and Surgical Teams (FRSTs), Field Hospital Centers, and medical evacuations platforms. The device / system should be compact, battery operated, lightweight and transportable, and meet air worthiness release for Army rotary wing evacuation aircraft.
