- Description
- The NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) has a requirement to measure changes in episcleral venous pressure (EVP), which may play a role in the development of Spaceflight-Associated Neuro-ocular Syndrome (SANS) in astronauts, yet we do not have a device to measure EVP in humans undergoing spaceflight analogs such as head-down tilt, prolonged bedrest, parabolic flight, or true spaceflight on the International Space Station. The gold standard method is to directly insert a pressure transducer into the vein draining the eye, but this invasive procedure is unsuitable for use in humans. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (21-MAY-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
