Description

This notice announces the intent by the U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) in support of the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Agency (USAMMA) to procure CensiTrac surgical instrument tracking systems to be fully installed at ten (10) Army Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) and to be upgraded from set level tracking to instrument level tracking at two (2) MTFs without competition as prescribed in FAR 13.106-1. Specifically, the Government will procure this system manufactured by Censis Technologies, Inc. The US Army has the CensiTrac surgical instrument tracking system installed at nine (9) out of nineteen (19) Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) in their inventory. Of the installed systems, seven (7) are fully capable of surgical instrument tracking down to the instrument level and two (2) are only capable of surgical instrument tracking down to the set level. Procuring the CensiTrac surgical instrument tracking system for the remaining MTFs, allows the Army to standardize to one (1) enterprise solution for all nineteen (19) MTFs. This provides for one (1) repository of information for the tracking of surgical instruments, high volume instruments, and the standardization of surgical instrument sets across the Army. Additionally, having one (1) repository of information, will provide visibility into which surgical instruments are not being utilized across the Army and can therefore be removed from the MTFs inventory reducing the replacement, maintenance, sterilization, and storage costs of the Army's surgical instruments.
