Description
Amendment 0001 is issued to provide the questions and answers received via email. 1)Is there a preferred method (SOP) for analysis? I.e. NAWQA? NARS? Answer: APHA (or similar method that accurately represents the phytoplankton community composition). 2. Is this whole sample analysis, whole subsample analysis, fixed count method? Answer: The samples will need to be sub-sampled. The sub-sample will then be concentrated (preferably by sedimentation, as opposed to centrifugation or filtering, to maintain cell integrity). They will be counted as natural units, using a fixed-count method. The count must be high enough to adequately represent the phytoplankton community composition of the original, whole-water sample (likely 300-400). 3. Is it intended that biovolume be measured for a pre-described number of individuals/ taxon in EVERY sample ( sensu NAWQA) or will `average ¿ biovolumes be considered acceptable ( sensu NARS). Answer: Biovolume to be measured on a pre-described number of individuals/taxon in every sample. 4. Is it intended that a permanent slide mount of digested material will be prepared to evaluate sample integrity/ viability for diatom analyses and any subsequent ID enumeration? Answer: No This Solicitation Notice is to announce the U.S. Department of Interior (DOI), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has a requirement for PHYTOPLANKTON ANALYSIS in accordance with the attached solicitation.
