Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate a contract on a sole source basis with PerkinElmer Health Sciences, Inc., Shelton, CT. The purpose of the contract is for the contractor to supply, install and service the PerkinElmer Microbeta2 Plate Reader. MicroBeta2 is the latest version of liquid scintillation counter (LSC) microplate counter that measures radioactivity, as well as luminescence. LSC is the standard laboratory method to quantify the radioactivity of low energy radioisotopes, mostly betaemitting and alpha-emitting isotopes. Perkin Elmer is the global, leading company in manufacturing and sole distribution of LSC's. In our lab, we have been using Microbeta Trilux for over 20 years and the equipment has proven to be reliable and accurate in counting small quantities of radioactive materials in various studies. Microbeta2 uses proprietary Time-Resolved Liquid Scintillation Counting (TR-LSC) mode, and significantly improves counting capabilities with opaque plates and low-energy isotopes. TR-LSC mode can generate close to dual-PMT coincidence counting performance by using top photomultiplier tubes only. These instruments are available in various detector configurations with 16-shelf loading capacity. In addition to the supply, the contractor will install the instrument, as well as conduct annual preventive maintenance. Preventative maintenance is designed to ensure that the unit is in proper working condition, promote efficient operation, minimize need for major repair, prevent equipment failure, and prolong laboratory functionality. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (31-MAY-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE. PLEASE CONTACT 877-472-3779 or fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
