Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Tennessee Valley VA Medical Center intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 13.106-1(b), with Leica Microsystems Inc. for the Leica DMi8 Inverted Research Microscope. Investigators at the Tennessee Valley VA Medical Center s Research & Development department are conducting research that requires an inverted microscope with the capability to perform immunofluorescence imaging at the highest possible resolution in live cells, tissue sections, and with z-stacking to allow for limited confocal work. Additional capabilities include it being an enclosed system allowing it to be used with the lights on, having six filters, being able to perform stitching, being upgradeable, and having an sCMOS camera. Leica is the only known vendor using the latest high resolution and high sensitivity fluorescence sCMOS camera, and the Leica 20x and 40x objectives correction collars are patented technology allowing only Leica to clearly correct the image on different thicknesses of tissues and cells without losing the Z focus. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Tuesday, June 11, 2019, 4:00 PM, EST. Vendors submitting capability statements must clearly describe how they can meet or exceed the capabilities provided in this notice. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Shannon Hukriede at Shannon.Hukriede@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (06-JUN-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE. PLEASE CONTACT 877-472-3779 or fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
