- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), through the Office on Smoking and Health (OSH), is the lead federal agency for comprehensive tobacco prevention and control. OSH is a division within the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP). Originally established in 1965 as the National Clearinghouse for Smoking and Health, OSH is dedicated to reducing the death and disease caused by tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke. OSH's actitivies are aligned across the following overarching impact areas: 1) Preventing initiation of tobacco use among youth and young adults; 2) eliminating exposure to secondhand smoke; 3) Increasing successful cessation in adults and youth; and 4) Identifying and eliminating tobacco-related disparities. The purpose of this acquisition is to identify promising ways in which pharmacists are engaged in cessation interventions for individuals who use tobacco products. This includes (1) the development of a case study/promising practices resource that highlights pharmacist engagement in tobacco cessation; (2) the development of a dissemination plan/roll out plan that includes key stakeholders and tactical steps to be taken to disseminate the final product; and (3) the execution of the dissemination ploan to distribute the final resource document. The aim of this project is for CDC to gain a better understanding of this tope and to promote this information to improve access to cessation services. The goal is to increase quit attempts and successful quits for individuals who use tobacco products. This project requires engagement of national-level experts and state and local constituents to promote the critical role of pharmacists in tobacco cessation. the contractor shall identify promising practices and case examples of ways in which pharamacists have attained authority, access, and sustainability to deliver clinical services to assist individuals who use tobacco products. This project has 3 components: (1) development of a document that highlights successful engagement of pharmacists in delivering tobacco cessation servicesk (2) development of a dissemination plan to translate and educate findings of the develeoped resource, and (3) successful roll out of the resource in alignment with the dissemination plan.
