Description

THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, NJ (NAWCADLKE) is soliciting industry for information regarding equipment that can detect and isolate intermittent faults and/or the root cause of the intermittent faults on-aircraft Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS) and any information on current technologies or products to combat intermittent faults in the Navy and Marine Corps. Intermittent aircraft EWIS faults are wiring defects that result in short duration discontinuities (opens/shorts) that cause an aircraft system to malfunction intermittently. These discontinuities occur as a result of certain environmental and operational stimuli including but not limited to: thermal stress, vibrational stress, gravitational G-force loading, moisture and/or contaminant exposure. Identification of existing intermittent faults and damage to aircraft EWIS that can potentially trigger or progress into intermittent failures will allow for proper repairs to be effected.
