- Description
- This prospectus is being issued to solicit applications for a concession campground, day use area and cabin rental special use permit for the Ocala National Forest, USFS Region 8, located in Florida. A permit will be issued to provide high-quality public service for the operation and maintenance of government-owned recreation facilities. One applicant will be selected for all offerings. The Ocala National Forest anticipates choosing a successful applicant(s) in December 2019, with the intention of operations beginning in time to provide services for the 2020 recreation season. The Ocala National Forest concession prospectus sites are located on the Lake George and Seminole Ranger Districts. The prospectus offers 3 large and highly developed recreation area complexes centered on spring sources (Alexander Springs, Juniper Springs, Silver Glen Springs) and within these complexes are 2 campgrounds, 2 RV sewer waste stations, 3 day use picnic areas, 3 swim beaches, 3 non-motorized watercraft launches, 3 stores, 2 bathhouses, 3 boat rental services, 3 non-motorized watercraft runs (1 canoe run through a wilderness area), 2 boardwalk trail systems, 4 other trails and numerous Civilian Conservation Camp buildings and structures. Additionally, the prospectus offers 1 watercraft take out area, 2 family campgrounds, 1 group campground, 1 RV sewer waste station, 3 day use areas containing 3 picnic areas, 4 boat launch sites, 2 beaches, 2 trailheads/trails and 2 cabin rentals (1 listed on the National Register of Historic Places). Site visits to the campground complexes will be scheduled for September, 2019 and specific times, dates, and tour locations will be posted on the Forest website.
