Description
Construction Services Project No.: 630A4-19-102SA Project Title: Renovate Laundry Textile Production Room Completion Time: 90 Calendar Days COR: Anthony Weathers Provide all necessary labor and materials for the Renovate Laundry Textile Production Room at the New York Harbor Healthcare System St. Albans Campus. Scope of Work The contractor is to remove existing paint on the ceiling, ductwork and ductwork components, piping, and conduits. The contractor is to remove existing paint on the walls. The contractor is to clean and prepare the metal deck ceiling, ductwork, and ductwork components, piping, conduits, and walls for painting. The contractor is to prime all areas with two coatings, and two coatings of the final paint or as approved by the COR as per manufacturer recommendations. The contractor is to remove existing flooring and prepare the floor for epoxy. The contractor is to install commercial grade, high durability, non-slip epoxy flooring. Epoxy mortar system must have a cove base, primer, mortar base, seal coat, top coat. Contractor to apply epoxy line marking system in yellow for safety, around the equipment, equipment components, columns, drains, and exits. Flooring must be ADA compliant. The contractor cannot do acid etching and must provide another method acceptable to the VA. The contractor is required to have a dedicated safety officer. The contractor must have OSHA training and specialized OSHA training regarding scaffolding, lifts, and fall protection. The contractor is responsible for protecting existing VA Laundry equipment and all associated components. Any damages are the responsibility of the contractor to repair or replace with new. The contractor is responsible for protecting existing VA Laundry equipment and ALL laundry equipment components from any physical damage, paint, dust, and anything that can affect the operation of the equipment and rails. Contractor MUST cover the Laundry Equipment, rails, and all equipment components. The contractor is responsible for maintaining VA laundry equipment warranty. The contractor must have VA Laundry equipment vendor Purchinex, LLC to inspect the site whenever work is being performed to maintain the equipment warranty. The contractor is responsible for phasing the work to reduce the impact on the Laundry. The contractor must properly vent the area while working. Contractor shall follow all Infection Control measures and Interim Life Safety measures during construction. All work performed will be in an operational healthcare facility. All work shall be done in compliance with the Contract Drawings and Specifications. All work shall be done in accordance with NFPA, Life Safety, and VA Standards and Regulations, and OSHA regulations. Contractor shall account for any additional expenses for afterhours/weekend work due to the area being occupied. Contractor shall give at least one-year warranty on all work, material, and labor. Justification: This project is necessary to remove existing paint that is falling from the ceiling, duct work, conduit, and pipes to prevent contamination of clean linen, patient gowns, and other items being cleaned at the laundry facility. New flooring is required to prevent the circulation of concrete dust throughout the laundry facility. Note: The C&A requirements do not apply, and that a Security Accreditation Package is not required. All contractor employees and subcontractors under this contract or order are required to complete the VA's online VA Privacy and Information Security Awareness and Rules of Behavior Training -   TMS Code 10176. Contractors must provide signed certifications of completion to the COTR during each year of the contract.   This requirement is in addition to any other training that may be required of the contractor and subcontractor(s).
