Description
DRAFT STATEMENT OF WORK 1. GENERAL INFORMATION Title of Project: Hypnosis Consultant Services Background/Introduction:   VHA Directive 1137 puts forth the requirement that all VA facilities will have available Complementary Integrative Health (CIH) services that are considered List I services. These LIST I services are interventions that have been shown to be effective in treatment of various chronic pain and health conditions. One such required service is Clinical Hypnosis. Clinical Hypnosis employs the induction of a deep state of relaxation and focused concentration by means of verbal suggestions. In an effort to bring Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System in compliance with this directive, 8 GCVHCS clinical staff members attended the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) Basic and Intermediate Workshops in FY 18. It is recommended that following such trainings, clinicians work with an ASCH Approved Consultant to become proficient in the delivery of the clinical hypnosis modality to Veterans. Receiving 20 hours of consultation from an ASCH Approved Consultant also meets one of the requirement for these clinical staff to pursue certification in the future should they choose to do so. As such, the 8 GCVHCS clinicians being able to gain proficiency in delivering the required service of Clinical Hypnosis will be the result of receiving the aforementioned consultation. Therefore, the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care system Biloxi requires the services of an Approved Clinical Hypnosis Consultation/Training for 8 GCVHCS Staff Members to be held at the GCVHCS facility. Contractor must be an Approved Consultant by the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) and possess the skillsets for the Veteran Population. Contractor to provide 20 hours of Consultation/Training for each employee. 2.. SCOPE OF WORK:   The overall objectives of the work being contracted is that an ASCH Approved Consultant will provide 20 hours of consultation in a group format to 8 GCVHCS clinical staff members to support their implementation of Clinical Hypnosis with their Veteran patients. These sessions will occur in 10, 2-hour sessions, every other week on Fridays from 0900 - 1100. The Consultant will not be providing services to Veterans, but instead will be providing training and clinical guidance to staff psychologists in their implementation of Clinical Hypnosis. The Contractor shall develop learning objectives for the course of the consultation services based upon the learning needs of the GCVCHS Staff participants to build upon training received in the delivery of clinical hypnosis, such that staff report increased competency in provision of these services.   The Contractor shall present didactic information to GCVHCS staff members consistent with established learning objectives and which expand upon clinical considerations and case examples specific to providing hypnosis to Veterans. Learning objectives will include, but are not limited to: Demonstrate several induction techniques that will be used in the practice of clinical hypnosis with Veterans Develop clinical hypnosis case conceptualizations to guide treatment planning appropriate to presenting problems of Veterans Integrate knowledge of the following techniques in a coherent hypnosis treatment sequence: Induction, hypnotic phenomenon, intensification/deepening, ego-strengthening, subtleties of suggestion, trancework, and reverting. The Contractor shall review case examples brought forth by the GCVHCS staff participants and offer clinical guidance regarding treatment implementation, to include practice and discussion. The Contractor shall provide documentation of completed hours of consultation for each staff participant. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE:   The project start date shall be between August 1, 2019 and December 6, 2019. During this time frame all 8 Staff members should have received their 20 hours. If for any reason a deliverable cannot be delivered as scheduled, the Contractor is required to submit a request for a time extension to the Contracting Officer. The request must include the reason(s) for the delay, the impact on the overall project, and the impact on the cost of the project. The Contracting Officer will consider each request on the basis of its merits and will, if approved, issue a modification to the contract. The Contractor is required to proceed as originally scheduled until such modification is issued. The Contracting Officer is the only official authorized to make changes to the contract.
