- Description
- This notice is issued by NASA to post a survey via the internet, and solicit responses from interested parties. This document is for information and planning purposes only. The goal of this survey is to assess the need and the level of interest in the spacecraft industry for further guidance in structural assessment practices and implementation of fracture control for additively manufactured spacecraft hardware. While NASA works to mature our internal polices for fracture control and structural assessment to the unique scenarios presented by additive manufacturing, the Agency is interested to understand developing industry practices in these areas. The currently published NASA requirements for the production of additively manufactured hardware (MSFC-STD-3716) are predominantly materials and processes centric, with very limited content and guidance in the structures discipline. This survey is intended to assess the interest across the industry for participating in the development of standardized practices and guidance in the structural assessment and fracture control disciplines, including the perceived advantages, or disadvantages, of establishing common industrywide practices. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (08-JUL-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE. PLEASE CONTACT 877-472-3779 or fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
