- The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 3), James J. Peters VA Medical Center, Bronx New York, intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C 253(c) (1) - FAR 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, to Medtronic, Inc. 710 Medtronic PKWY, Minneapolis, MN 55432. Medtronic will provide a Hawk Directional Atherectomy and Plaque Excision System to the James J. Peters Healthcare System, located at 130 West Kingsbridge Road, Bronx NY 10468. This action will result in a Firm-Fixed Price contract. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations. Any responses received no later than COB July 17th, 2019 9:00am EST will be considered for the purposes of determining sources for future procurements. The Government will not pay for information submitted. Any information submitted in response to this notice of intent is strictly voluntary. STATEMENT OF NEED James J. Peters VA Medical Center 130 West Kingsbridge Road Bronx, NY 10468 GENERAL INFORMATION Title of Project: MagPro Transcranial Magnetic Stimulator with Theta Burst Stimulation. Scope of Work: The James J. Peters, VA Medical Center, Mental Health Patient Care Center, is in need of additional methods to treat depression, anxiety disorders, and chronic pain. Many veterans prefer to avoid medications to treat these conditions and cannot attend regular sessions of psychotherapy. Others have failed medication and psychotherapy. Treatment with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has an FDA indication for refractory depression and is frequently used off-label for a wide variety of psychiatric, pain, and neurologic conditions. Treatment is office-based and does not require medication or psychotherapy. Sessions with rTMS, which includes a proprietary Theta Burst Module on the module we are requesting, will take 5 minutes and require only an initial course and rare maintenance sessions. There is a good possibility that treatment with rTMS will allow the mental health treatment center to reach veterans who currently are not in psychiatric treatment with traditional methods of therapy, thus extending our reach as a hospital, and reducing risk of morbidity and mortality among our veteran population that needs psychiatric treatment but goes untreated or undertreated. Background: The Mental Health Patient Care Center located at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center is in need of MagPro Transcranial Magnetic Stimulators with Theta Burst Models.
