Description
This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested/potential contractors of the District's imminent issue of an Invitation for Bid Package for its construction project entitled, "Gary Sanitary District Horace Mann Sewer Rehabilitation". PROJECT INFORMATION: Under the Contract, the contractor will be responsible for remediating compromised sewers in an area located in the Horace Mann neighborhood in the City of Gary, Indiana The proposed project area is bounded on the west by Taft Street on the south by the railroad south of 8th Avenue, on the east by Grant Street and on the north by ally north of 5th Avenue, along with some other outlying sewer segments. The sewers in this area are combined sewer and have exceeded their life expectancy and are in poor condition with many cracks, off set joints, and root intrusion that is causing sand infiltration and heavy Infiltration and Inflow (I/I) of ground water. This heavy I/I reduces the capacity of the combined sewers causing basement backups and Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) which are environmental hazards. The proposed project is to rehabilitate the sewers with trenchless technology using the Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) method of lining the sewers, removal and replacement of pipes, and manhole rehabilitation and ancillary work. Over 14,800 feet of sewers in various sizes ranging in 10-inch to 48-inch diameters in this area are in need of repair. Lining of these sewers will extend their useful life, reduce I/I, increasing the capacity of the sewers which will significantly reduce basement backups and SSOs. CONTRACTING OFFICE: USACE Chicago District, 231 South LaSalle Street, Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60604 NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (18-JUL-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE. PLEASE CONTACT 877-472-3779 or fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
