- The National Library of Medicine (NLM) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Bruce McKittrick Rare Books 43 Sabine Ave. Narberth, PA 19072-1741, under FAR 6-302-1. The National Library of Medicine (NLM), The History of Medicine Division (HMD), requires a very rare book to add to its collection, Bonacciuoli, Luigi, d-approximately 1540, Enneas muliebris [Ferrara, Lorenzo Rossi 1502-1503]. This rare book is the first edition of Luigi Bonacciuoli's treatise on women. It is an obtstetric and gynecologic manual prepared for and dedicated and presented to Lucrezia Borgia by her physician. The chapters deal with female anatomy, signs of pregnancy, its difficulties and treatments, development of the fetus, birth, midwifery, and care of the newborn. Bonacciuoli taught medicine at Ferrara from 1941 to 1535 and Enneas muliebris is his only known book. This copy includes early manuscript annotations.
