Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b) with SUMITOMO (SHI) CRYOGENICS OF AMERICA, INC., DUNS 160993739 for a Closed -Cycle Cyrostat Maintenance and Repair. The requirement is assigned a NAICS code of 334510, with a size standard of 1,250. This requirement is conducted under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b). This is a notice of intent to negotiate a sole source procurement only and is not a request for competitive quotations. However, contractors who want to challenge this sole source must submit an interest letter, as well as a capabilities statement that demonstrates their ability to meet this requirement. The interest letter, as well as a capabilities statement must demonstrate your organizations' ability to provide the product(s) and/or service(s) as described within this notice, as well as the associated Specifications Document. All interested organizations' must respond to this Special Notice by May 3, 2019, 1:00 P.M., Mountain Time, email your interest letter, as well as a capabilities statement directly to MeeLondrell Lumpkin, Contracting Officer, at meelondrell.lumpkin@nist.gov, email subject header must include NB688000-19-01200. Responses received will be evaluated, however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. NIST shall not reimburse for any cost(s) connected with providing the interest letter, as well as a capabilities statement. SPECIFICATIONS: The Ion Storage Group performs experiments using customized cryogenic ultra high vacuum systems with ultra-low vibration. These systems employ closed-cycle mechanical cold heads, which have a regular maintenance cycle to replace wear parts and ensure proper operation. maintenance is required to be performed on-site, to minimize downtime and disruption related to disassembly of the ultra-low-vibration cryostat system.
