Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Cold Regions Research Laboratory (CRREL) intends to award a contract on a sole source basis to Southwestern Industries, Inc. upon the basis of the authority provided at FAR 13.106-1(b). ERDC-CRREL's Engineering Resource Branch in Hanover, NH has a requirement for one (1) professional grade 3D Printer with large build volume for rapid prototyping and production of custom parts made from a variety of polymers as follows: a) Professional grade 3D Printer with minimum build volume of 620 x 355 x 500 mm. Must be capable of printing ABS, PCABS, ASA, PETG, CARBON, TPU, and Nylon materials. Minimum 3 printing nozzles capable of reaching 450deg C. Print bed must be capable of reaching 160deg C. Minimum 300mm/sec printing speed. Must include: slicer software required for operation. b) Power. Instrument is powered by 220v A/C with standard US plugs. c) Compatibility. Instrument must be able to print the following materials. ABS, PCABS, ASA, PETG, CARBON, TPU, and Nylon materials. d) Materials. Provide the following additional materials/equipment: Must be able to supply compatible polymer materials listed in the above compatibility section. e) Detailed specifications. Physical footprint not to exceed 940 x 775 x 1135 mm f) Other. Must be able to provide installation and training. Southwestern Industries, Inc. produces the only professional grade 3D printer system that meets all the Government's requirements and is fully interoperable with CRREL's existing lab equipment; Southwestern Industries system provides the leverage to existing software and training in use with existing CRREL machine shop equipment. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 33249, which has a size standard of 500 employees. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. Any interested party that believes they can fulfill this requirement should submit a capability statement to be reviewed. All submissions will be considered, however there is no guarantee that submissions in response to this notice will in any way alter the Government's acquisition strategy. Responses to this notice shall be submitted NLT 12:00 PM CST, 5 July 2019 to kim.d.roberson@usace.army.mil Telephone responses will not be accepted. Responses to this notice will not be considered as a response to any solicitation, a request to be added to a prospective offerors list, or to receive a copy of any solicitation. A determination by the Government not to compete the contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
