Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate a contract on a sole source basis with Krishagni LLC, Saint Louis, MO. The purpose of the contract is for the contractor to supply license (Including initial system setup and training) for the unified collection of sample and data information at the National Eye Institute's (NEI) Ophthalmic Genetics and Visual Function Branch (OGVFB). OGVFB collects, processes, analyzes and generates a large amount of data of variable nature from patient samples (e.g., blood and skin biopsies). To allow scientific discovery, all information about samples, their derivatives and the associated data needs be stored in an appropriate database. Sample information is paramount for tracking storage, availability and facilitate collaborative projects. Properly stored and catalogued data becomes amenable to queries based on scientific hypotheses or that generate novel hypotheses. We have identified a fundamental need for a basic research database in labs in OGVFB and other labs that was not met by the previously available software (Labmatrix, Biofortis). OGVFB has researched a number of vendors, held meetings to evaluate their products, narrowed choice down to OpenSpecimen, held further meetings with current OpenSpecimen customers and established that OpenSpecimen is the product that best fits their current needs. They envision the system to become a common resource for OGVFB labs initially, with the potential to be expanded for use by other NEI laboratories generating data starting from human specimens. OGVFB will establish a common database for patient samples and experimental data using the OpenSpecimen software licensed by Krishagni LLC. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (21-AUG-2019); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE. PLEASE CONTACT 877-472-3779 or fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
