Description

NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate a contract on a sole source basis with Medmont International Pty Ltd, Nunawading, Australia. The purpose of the contract is for the contractor to supply Medmont Dark Adapted automated perimeter (DAC) to the National Eye Institute (NEI). The Medmont DAC is currently the only available commercial perimeter that provides 2-color dark-adapted perimetry over an extended visual field covering 144 deg horizontally and 72 deg vertically. An additional unique feature is the very large dynamic ranges for the blue (75 dB) and red (50 dB) stimuli provided by the Medmont DAC. This human testing device is essential for the continuity of the patient care based on current NEI stem cell protocols, as well as ensuring continuity of care/clinical research in an ophthalmic research environment. Medmont is the manufacturer and the sole distributor of this equipment. Responses The proposed acquisition action is for items and/or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b).
