- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) - Utah, Kanab Field Office, seeks a vendor for basalt mining and transportation of riprap in Kane County, UT. Vendor shall mine and deliver the following: 1) 370 cubic yards of Basalt Riprap 24 ¿-36 ¿ diameter. 2) 250 cubic yards of Basalt Riprap 10 ¿-16 ¿ diameter. Items 1 and 2 shall be mined at the Bald Knoll BLM pit (37 °18'25.05"N 112 °25'05.18" W), which is located approximately 3 miles north of the Glendale Bench road, 30 miles northeast of Kanab via Hwy. 89 and Johnson Canyon (see attached map.) The BLM will provide all required permits for the removal of the rock. The contractor will be responsible for mining the rock and processing it to meet the sizes specified. All mining and transportation shall be conducted in accordance with the mining permit requirements and applicable laws. Contractor shall deliver the product to Telegraph Job Site (37 °07'24.11" N 112 °06'46.59" W), which is located approximately 30 miles east of Kanab, UT (see attached map). The access road into the job site is accessible with side dump trailers. This procurement is being conducted under NAICS code 212319 Other Crushed and Broken Stone Mining and Quarrying. In order to be a small business under this NAICS code a business must have 500 employees or less. This competition is a 100% small business set aside under NAICS code 212319. The method of source selection will be Lowest Priced Technically Acceptable (LPTA) with technical competency being a pass / fail. It is the sole decision of BLM Utah if a contractor is technically acceptable, or not. Technical acceptability will be based on the contractors past experience performing similar work. Contractors shall submit references from two or more projects of a similar size and scope, to demonstrate their experience. Any additional information known to the government may also be used in considering contractor responsibility and technical acceptability. All contractors wishing to do business with the federal government must have an active entry in the SAM computer system (https://www.sam.gov) and not be debarred from federal contracting.
