- Please call 540-653-7080 for the password to the ZIP Folder. Question: Our solution is a client-based server application. Will the Government be providing a server? Can the Government provide a Virtual Machine (VM) environment on that server to cohost multiple applications? Answer: Yes Question: Can the Government provide a Virtual Machine (VM) environment on that server to cohost multiple applications? Answer and a Note: Ansewr: Yes Note: It's important to know we will configure the environments (Hypervisor and OS) to be compliant with DISA STIGs (Secure Technical Implementation Guidelines) which could impact performance of the application depending on permissions needed between dependencies, application, and user. Question: Will there be a wireless local area network provided by the Government so that the mobile handheld terminals will be able to communicate in real time with the host system via 802.11? Answer: Not currently, but we would like to leverage that capability in the future if possible. Question: If not, does the Government assume the handhelds will operate in "batch" mode therefore uploading the data to the host system using a cradle? Answer: Yes Question: Mobile RFID readers/computers (such as the Honeywell CN70 and Zebra MC9190-Z and MC3190-Z) are no longer are offered with Windows Mobile or Windows CE based operating systems. All current RFID mobile computers have an Android operating system. Will the Government consider mobile readers with an Android OS? Answer: Yes Question: There are some RFID enabled tablets available with Windows 10 OS. Tablets typically have a shorter read distance than RFID mobile computers.
