Description
The purpose of this amendment is to post the following questions received from potential offerors and their corresponding answers: 1) Question: With respect to the earlier posting and the SOW, why are 12 inch electrodes required? For efficient energy management, larger is not necessarily better. Answer: 12 inch rams are required to minimize the need for transition tools for larger items to be processed. This will allow the Government to optimize fabrication processes and minimize tooling inventory. 2) Question: What materials systems to be consolidated are of interest to the Army? a.) Ceramics b.) Metallics c.) Composites d.) Others systems Answer: Primary systems of interest will be ceramics and refractory metals but standard metals and composites will be considered. 3) Question: What sizes and geometries are of interest to the Army? a.) X inches by Y inches by Z inches thick? b.) Plates? c.) Cylinders? d.) Complex shapes? Answer: Sizes and geometries will vary by product applications. The press tooling will control these features and the Government intends to fabricate its own tooling. The Government is interested in plates on the order of 12 inches in diameter with thicknesses up to.850 inches. Information on complex shapes cannot be shared at this time. **End of amendment** The U.S. Army, Army Contracting Command, New Jersey (ACC-NJ) on behalf of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) - Armaments Center, located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is issuing a competitive small business set-aside solicitation for a firm fixed price (FFP) contract for the delivery, installation and training of one (1) Thermal Technology DCS 200 Sintering System or equivalent to meet Statement of Work (SOW) requirements.
