- Description
- USCGC SPAR AMENDMENT - 0006 The Purpose of this amendment for this combined synopsis and solicitation is to respond to the following quetions: Question: The navigational waterway to LUDC, goes thru the Army Corp of Engineers "Ballard Locks". These locks will be closed for maintenance 12Oct thru 29Nov. Can the POP be adjusted either before or after this lock closure? Response: Current POP will be adjusted accordingly when Philly Gear tech rep completes inspection of MRG and Turning Gear, OOA 07OCT2019. Question: Paragraph 3.8.4.9, it states to renew all disturbed seals. What is the extent of renewing the seals? Does it include the main mechanical shaft seal and the three bulkhead seals? Are we to just renew the soft parts of the seals or the entire seal housings and soft parts? We were told that the seal parts to overhaul the existing seals are a very long lead item. Will the Coast Guard supply parts for all four seals for the overhauling of them that will be disturbed by this item as GFE parts? Response: 3.8.4.9 Does pertain to both the main mechanical shaft seal and the three bulkhead seals. The main Shaft Seals and Bulkhead Seals are only being disturbed to allow disassembly of reduction gear (main shaft needs to be drifted aft) and the Thruster Generator shaft may need to be moved (causing that bulkhead seal to be disturbed). The mechanical seal faces are not subject to renewal. Only the seals that may be disturbed to allow for the shaft movement (per required Tech Rep guidance) require renewal, such as o-cord on seat assembly (main shaft seal) and o-cord on Diaphragm assembly (bulkhead seal).
