- Sources Sought Synopsis with Contractor Capability Survey Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS) Repair of MHU-196/204 Munition Trailer Axial Piston Pumps PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet qualification requirements for the repair of MHU -196/204 Munition Trailer Hydraulic Pumps NSNs: 4320-01-216-9809VX, and 4320-01-174-0506VX for USAF personnel. This is a repair acquisition. Our acquisition strategy is a five-year contract (basic plus four option years) and will continue through FY25. The projected quantities will be 22 for 4320-01-216-9809VX, and 26 for 4320-01-174-0506. The Axial Piston Pump NSN 4320-01-216-9809 is also known as a variable displacement pump, which is a positive displacement device which utilizes the reciprocating motion of a multiple number of parallel pistons arranged axially in a cylinder barrel as a means of transferring a liquid from one place to another. The pistons are actuated by revolving the cylinder barrel at an angle to the drive shaft axis or by a tilting box when the cylinder barrel revolves on the drive shaft. The piston displacement may be fixed or variable. It is designed to be driven by a prime mover which is not an integral part of the pump. This pump is a Sundstrand Series 15 axial pistion pump, Model 15-7048. The Axial Piston Pump NSN 4310-01-174-0506 is positive displacement pump which utilizes the reciprocating motion of a multiple number of parallel pistons arranged axially in a cylinder barrel as a means of transferring a liquid from one place to another. It is a commercial off-the-shelf pump manufactured by Sundstrand (now Danfoss Power Systems). The commercial part number for this pump is 20-2042.
