- ***18 OCTOBER 2019 REVISION TO INDUSTRY DAY SCHEDULE*** ***THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT SUPERSEDES THE ONE POSTED ON 11 OCTOBER 2019*** INTERESTED CAPABLE CONTRACTORS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INERTIAL MEASUREMENT UNIT (IMU) AND TIMING INDUSTRY DAY. THIS SPECIAL NOTICE IS FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES, AND SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED AS A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT, INVITATION FOR BIDS, REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS, QUOTES OR AN INDICATION THAT THE GOVERNMENT WILL CONTRACT FOR THE ITEMS CONTAINED IN THIS NOTICE. THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT REIMBURSE RESPONDENTS FOR ANY COST ASSOCIATED WITH THE SUMMIT OR REIMBURSE EXPENSES INCURRED TO THE INTERESTED PARTIES FOR REPONSES. The Assured Positioning, Navigation and Timing Cross Functional Team (APNT CFT) is conducting an IMU and Timing Industry Day on 29-30 October 2019. The Government to Industry Briefing on 29 October will start at 8:00 AM (CST) in the Von Braun Civic Center's East Hall #3 (700 Monroe St. SW, Huntsville, AL 35801) with onsite registration beginning at 7:30 AM. The first scheduled invitation-only panel session on 30 October will begin at 7:30 AM. The purpose of this event is to conduct market research to identify and explore potential technologies that can provide air, ground, precision weapons & munitions, or space-based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Inertial Navigation Unit, Inertial Navigation System, and Timing capabilities that will enhance or revolutionize beyond the current systems available. The Government plans to collect input from industry, assess the technologies, and potentially utilize this research to shape future requirements. Day 1, 29 October will begin with a Government briefing to Industry from 8:00 to 10:00 that will include both INU and Timing topics and a Q&A session. Each company is limited to no more than 4 attendees for the Day 1 morning session. Invitation-only panel sessions will begin at 10:30 AM with companies who provided responses to RFIs "AFC_APNT_CFT_01" and/or RFIs "AFC_APNT_CFT_02. NOTE: Unlike the invitation-only panel sessions, attendance for the Day 1 morning session between Government and Industry from 8:00 to 10:00 is not limited to only companies who provided responses to INU and Timing RFIs. Day 2, 30 October will be dedicated to invitation-only panel sessions with companies who provided responses to RFIs "AFC_APNT_CFT_01" and/or RFIs "AFC_APNT_CFT_02 ". Panel sessions for both days will be limited to 20 minutes each, inclusive of presentation to the Government and question and answer session. Each panel session is limited to no more than 10 industry attendees for each session to include the presenter. The Government will contact each company that responded to the above mentioned RFIs separately no later than Oct 18, 2019 by e-mail to schedule the day and time for individual panel sessions. During the panel sessions, the Government seeks to understand what current and emerging IMU and Timing technologies exist in industry. The Government is interested in the following: • Modularity: Leverage Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) to rapidly integrate and deploy innovative IMU and Timing technologies. • Form, Fit, and Function: Reducing Size, Weight, Power, Cooling, and Cost while meeting environmental and operational requirements. • Network Integration: Optimize/ increase resiliency for Position, Navigation, and Timing in a GPS denied environment over existing/ future network architecture(s). This announcement should not be construed as an industry day associated with a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a commitment by the U.S. Government. The U.S. Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this Industry Day. The information obtained from this event will be utilized for market research purposes only. NOTICE: The government will potentially utilize System Engineering and Technical Assistance Contractors (SETAC) and Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC) to provide subject matter expertise during all three days of this event. The APNT CFT will ensure all Contractors have appropriate Non-Disclosure Agreement's in place with the USG. All attendees must be US Citizens. All representatives MUST provide a Government form of photo identification at registration the day of the event. REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Registration must be processed through this website (this applies to industry and government attendees): https://www.eventbrite.com/e/army-apnt-cft-imu-and-timing-tim-29-oct-2019-tickets-75319010187. This is a Government-sponsored event; therefore, no food, drinks, or refreshments are provided. The event venue will provide on-site food and drink items for purchase during the event; local vendors are available a small distance away. NOTICE: The U.S. Army will make every effort to hold the IMU and Timing TEM at the times, dates and locations specified. The U.S. Army holds the right to cancel or change session event times, dates and location. These conditions usually include, but are not limited to: inclement weather; event venue cancellation or rescheduling; speaker cancellation or rescheduling; insufficient number of participants; or for the convenience of the Government. The U.S. Army holds the right to cancel the event for any reason up to and including the day of the event. In the event that the U.S. Army must cancel the event, the U.S. Army will not be responsible for costs incurred in preparation for the TEM. In the event of predicted inclement weather, a decision will be made by 5pm on the prior day. If the event is cancelled, the notice will be posted on this website and an email will be sent to all registered participants. APNT CFT MISSION: Provide overmatch and resiliency against current and emerging threats in contested environments through investment in Assured PNT, Space, and Navigation Warfare capabilities. APNT LINE OF EFFORT: Deliver trusted and assured positioning, navigation, and timing data to ground, aviation, and precision weapons and munitions platforms. Our focus is on developing and delivering scalable and tailorable PNT solutions that increase resiliency of the GPS signal and integrating non-RF means such as inertial navigation systems. The APNT CFT narrows assigned Army capability gaps using Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership & Education, Personnel, Facilities, and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) materiel and non-materiel solutions to enable overmatch. The CFT leads a team of experts to conduct Science & Technology (S&T), Modeling & Simulation (M&S), Market Research, Technical Demonstrations, and Experiments to reduce technological and operational risk, while informing requirements to define and rapidly deliver operationally effective capabilities the Army needs to dominate on future battlefields.
