- QUESTION 7: The Pallet Industry cuts 1x6 lumber two different ways, one is S4S meaning surfaced (smooth) all four sides (3/4" thick) and second one is less costly way for us to take nominal 2x6 lumber, 1-1/2" x 5-1/2", center split it into two pieces with each piece resawn at 11/16" thick with one side rough sawn. Now, my question is resawn method acceptable? ANSWER 7: Resawn lumber is acceptable.
