Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) - Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division (EFLHD) Innovation Industry Day (IID) Background: The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) mission is to enable and empower the strengthening of a world-class highway system that promotes safety, mobility, and economic growth, while enhancing the quality of life of all Americans. Within FHWA, Federal Lands Highways (FLH) is enabled and entrusted to administer many different programs and types of funds to facilitate transportation improvements for our many Federal Land Management Agency (FLMA) Partners such as: the National Park Service (NPS); USDA Forest Service (Forest Service); U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS); Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and Tribal Governments; Bureau of Land Management (BLM); Department of Defense (DOD); U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); and the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR). What FLH Do? Since the early 1900's, FLH has assisted its FLMA partners in the design and construction of aesthetically pleasing and environmentally sensitive highway and bridge projects. This includes the original planning, design and construction of many roads within our National Parks and National Forests. FLH delivers projects through strong project management from inception to completion, working closely and coordinating constantly with our partners to facilitate delivery. To ensure successful delivery, FLH must apply innovative and diverse solutions to the unique projects we undertake. Context sensitivity, a design philosophy ingrained in our culture, is critical to meeting the unique missions, values and needs of our partners and the public. The FLH works with its partners to build roads that meet the transportation community's standards while balancing, respecting and protecting the resources in which they are located. FLH Vision To be the partner of choice to FLMAs and Tribes. We will implement innovative transportation solutions that provide access to and through public lands. FLH Mission Improving transportation to and within Federal and Tribal Lands by providing technical services to the highway/transportation community, as well as building accessible and scenic roads that ensure the many national treasures, within our Federal Lands, can be enjoyed by all. Within FLH, Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division (EFLHD or EFL) covers the eastern half of the United States (31 states) Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands. Invitation/Notice: EFL cordially invites interested companies to present innovative transportation products or solutions in the following areas: • Geotechnical • Pavements • Hydraulics • Safety and Traffic • Survey and Mapping • Utilities • Highway Design • Construction • Materials • Bridge: Design, Inspection or Management • Road Inventory • Environment Date: Tuesday, December 10, 2019 Time: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Eastern) Location: 21400 Ridgetop Circle, Sterling VA 20166 How to apply? Please email a maximum of three pages write up describing the company, the product and how it will benefit EFL's projects no later than 5:00 PM (Eastern) on Friday, November 15, 2019 to EFLIndustryDay@dot.gov attention Maria Rosa with the subject "EFL Innovation Industry Day". Companies will be selected by a panel and notified by Friday, November 22, 2019. Draft Agenda: 8:00 - 12:00 pm: Registration/Check-In and Companies Presentations Notes: Selected companies will have 30 minutes to present. Within those 30 minutes, companies will include set up and time for questions. Companies are expected to check-in 15 minutes prior to the assigned presentation time. Free parking is available for visitors in the building. Questions can be send to EFLIndustryDay@dot.gov. Parking: Free parking on site for visitors is available. Directions for facility entry will be provided in the confirmation of registration that will be sent directly to the identified vendor point of contact's email.
