Description
M2 Machine Gun Training COURSE DESCRIPTION The M2 Machine Gun (MG) Maintainer Training Course is designed to assist the unit Armorer in the proper care and maintenance of the M2 MG. US Ordnance will provide M2 Maintainer Training for the Kingdom of Jordan to include: a. Assembly and Disassembly, b. Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services, c. Troubleshooting d. Maintenance Repairs (4th Level) to include disassembly and fault determination, fault repair and assembling, and final testing. NUMBER OF JORDANIANS TO BE TRAINED 5 Students with good English comprehension level. EQUIPMENT TO BE TRAINED M2 Machine Gun PROJECTED TRAINING SCHEDULE/ INFORMATION/LOCATION 1. The M2 MG Maintainer Training is a (5) day course with last day being a range day. 2. Travel and Training Start Date: To be coordinated with Security Assistance Management Directorate (SAMD) FMS, US Ordnance, and OCONUS country POC. 3. Training Location: U.S Ordnance, Inc. 300 West Sydney Drive McCarran Nevada 89434 4. Daily training hours: 8 hours SAMD FMS SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS 1. Provide Country POC: 2. Funding to support pre-training/travel needs 3. Author a Memorandum Of Agreement (MOA) if needed 4. Country Case Manager, Weapons System Manager and the Office of Defense Cooperation or Security Assistance Command Representatives sign, date, and return to Contractor/FMS a copy of this SOW acknowledging they agree to support all the conditions indentified in this document before the "Line Item" is added to an LOA. CONTRACTOR SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS 1. Identify instructors 2. Develop Training Materiel as required 3. Training Materiel reproduction - to be reproduced in English language. 4. Weapons for training 5. Ammunition 6. Tools and Gauges 7. Personal Protection Equipment(PPE) i.e. ear plugs, eye protection 8. Medics 9. Ambulance or designated vehicle 10. Score Cards 11. Classroom 12. Range and Targets 13. Lodging 14. Lunch 15. Transportation (Airport Pick-up, to and from class) FMS CUSTOMER SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS 1. Funding to support training/travel needs 2. Identify POC Student qualifications: a. Experienced weapon operators and maintainers b. English speaking students TRAINING SCOPE 1. M2 MG Maintenance Training: This is a 4 day, 8 hours per day course. Provides maintenance training in: • M2 Flex/M2A1 Machine Gun Parts Identification-Identification of the main components of the system. • Technical discussion - discuss the M2 Flex/M2A1 system components, technical specifications and measurements. • Safe loading and unloading procedures - explain and demonstrate safe handling procedures. • Clearing and Handling - demonstrate the proper methods of ensuring a safe weapon. • Weapon disassembly - step-by-step instruction for operator level disassembly. • Detailed Cleaning Techniques - individual cleaning of each component. • Inspection of components - operator inspection of components to ensure proper functional performance. • Lubrication - type, quantity, and location of lubricant. • Reassembly - complete operator reassembly of the M2 Flex/M2A1 weapon. • Function check - checks to be performed by the operator. • Headspace and timing - explain and demonstrate proper headspace and timing. • Sight adjustment - correct sight picture and sight adjustment. • Operational Procedure - description of the operating principal of the components of the weapon. • Identification and clearing of stoppages - types of malfunctions, cause and immediate action drills. • Troubleshooting - identification of the problem and the methods of repair. • Headspace and timing - explain and demonstrate proper headspace and timing. • Loading and unloading procedures - explain and demonstrate these steps. • Clearing and safe handling - demonstrate the proper methods of ensuring a safe weapon. • Sight adjustment - correct sight picture and setting battle sight zero. • Mounts - We will discuss the use and assembly of bipod, tripod and vehicular mounting systems as available. • Ammunition and Optics - We will discuss types of ammunition, optical and night vision equipment as well as various accessories available for the M2 series machine guns. • Changing barrels - Learn how and when to properly replace the barrel of the machinegun. 2. Range Drills: This is a 1 day, 8 hours per day course. The range drills will reinforce classroom instruction with emphasis on field expedient maintenance methods that will assist the Armorer in the field and while on the range. These intense drills will allow the Armorer to troubleshoot and fix the machinegun on the spot when necessary to keep the weapon functioning. These drills will include: • Gun Checks • Proper loading and unloading procedures • Zeroing procedures • Malfunction drills • Field expedient maintenance • Simulated night loads and weapon setup • Reloads • Performance under stress NB: Training Course curriculum and subject matter is limited to information available in the public domain and in the Operator and Technical manuals included with each weapon system. The Contractor will not teach operational tactics or how to employ the weapon in combat. AT THE CONCLUSION OF EACH COURSE Every student will keep the training materials used during the training. All other Materiel remains the property of the Contractor. A course completion certificate will be given to each student upon successful completion of the course. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1. No action to be taken until approved by USASAC, FMS, and Contractor. 2. Travel plan: Will be released as soon as dates are determined and visas are obtained. NOTE: This FMS requirement is sole sourced to U.S. Ordnance, Inc. (CAGE: 1NZN0)
