- Description
- The Heat Exchanger 2 (Hx-02) Upgrades Project is a Design-Build project to install new heat exchanger systems to replace existing mechanical infrastructure in an existing enclosure, and install additional structural wall and roof systems to support increased radiation shielding. Construction includes removal, demolition and new construction efforts to replace the existing Hx-02 system within an existing structure, with two new identical and separate cooling systems. This new scope of work involves new structural work and replacement of mechanical and electrical systems within the existing footprint of the current physical facilities. Sections of the existing structure and infrastructure systems will be reused as detailed. The major elements of the Work include but are not limited to the following: Architectural/Structural; Mechanical; Electrical and Controls for the major demolition and re-construction of the existing Hx-02, which supplies LCW cooling water to the major Accelerator Electron Beamline Dumps (EBD) and Beam Switch Yard Dump (BSY). •Design Build, $2-4M TPC •RFP package anticipated to be released November 11,2019 •Construction start anticipated for Jan-Feb 2020 See below questions.
