Description
The following is a Sources Sought/Request for Information notice. This posted notice is not a Pre-Solicitation or Solicitation document. The government is not currently soliciting bids, quotes or proposals at this time; however, reserves the right to do so at a later date. The Veterans Affairs Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS), H.J. Heinz Campus, has a requirement for a one-time delivery of six hundred (600) nutritionally balanced freeze-dried meals. Vendors expressing interest must meet the requirement cited below.Scope of WorkMeals shall meet FDA guideline for nutritional value for adults and provide at least 2,000 calories per day and 90-100 grams of protein per day. The meals should be capable of being able to be reconstituted with hot water. Individual packaging shall not exceed 20 pounds per container. The meals shall have a storage life of at least ten (10) years. Five hundred-fifty (550) patients require solid meals. Solid meals shall be acceptable for diabetic, sodium restricted diets, etc. (see patient nutritional profile). Fifty (50) patients require puree meals.
