- 27 Nov 2019 Update: Added a copy of the report "USCG Safe Operating Envelope Full-Scale Trials Results" (attachment 4) which describes the safe operating envelope determined for the fourth generation Over-the-Horizon cutter boat and second generation Long Range Interceptor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) is looking for additional information in preparation for a third generation Long Range Interceptor Cutter Boat (CB-LRI III) acquisition. The CB-LRI III is a standard configuration boat capable of performing missions that require the projection of USCG capabilities beyond the parent cutter. Missions will be performed throughout a spectrum of climates, weather conditions, sea states, and at all hours, day and night. The contract scope is anticipated to purchase 15 boats over a 5 year period.The acquisition strategy is anticipated to consist of paper proposal evaluation with a Firm Fixed Price, Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity award to a single offeror.Approximate CB-LRI III Characteristics:Note: All sea states (SS) cited using the Bretschneider Wave Spectrum.Max Length: 33.5 feet (maximum extreme dimensions)Max Beam: 10 feet 10 inches (maximum extreme dimensions)Max Weight: 15500 (objective) / 18500 (threshold) lbs. Written proposals evaluated with selection of a single offeror. One boat ordered and delivered for use in a 4-6 month operational test and evaluation, production is stopped. Results from the operational test and evaluation generate minor modifications that are incorporated prior to restarting production. Production restarts at approximately 2 boats per year in the first year of regular production, growing to 4-6 boats per year by the second or third year of production.Areas of Coast Guard emphasis: Sealing/water ingress prevention/protection: seals, gaskets, hatches, electrical, electronic. Equipment access for maintenance. Minimization of hull appendages that could be damaged during stern ramp recovery. Seakeeping performance. Maintainability.
