Description
BACKGROUNDAs a result of recent flight testing conducted under the System Development and Demonstration (SDD) contract, measured vibration environment in the forward fuselage region Zone 2B as defined in the Environmental Criteria Document (ECD) has exceeded the thresholds currently established. The ECD contains the natural and induced environments for the P-8A Aircraft. Revision E of the ECD was released on 11/10/2016 to incorporate the environments derived from SDD flight test measured data. The data showed that there was increased vibration in the lower lobe, Zone 2B, surrounding the forward electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) pressure box from STA380-STA500 and stringer span 23Lto 23R. As a result of this determination, the ECD was updated to define a new localized vibration zone (now called Zone 2C) with an increased vibration environment to reflect the measured test data. The Root cause of the higher vibration in the lower frequency band has been attributed to opening of the EO/IR door and operation of the turret. Part A of CP-809-05178 covered the design efforts to address this vibration issue and includes the detail drawing, NRE, and requalification of equipment located in Zone 2C.REQUIREMENTSThe contractor shall perform retrofit NRE in support of CP-809-05178 Lower Lobe Vibration. Retrofit effectivity addresses SDD test aircraft, except BuNo 167951 (T-1), ninety-one (91) U.S. Navy aircraft (Lots 1-1 through 8-15), 12 AUS, and 2 UK aircraft. The contractor shall develop and deliver an ECP (CDRL A001), Product Drawings/Models and Associated Lists (CDRL A002), validated Technical Directives (TDs) (CDRL A003), Installation Data Package (IDP) (CDRL A004) and Technical Manual Research and Analysis Source Data (CDRL A005).The contractor shall provide three (3) kits with the NRE effort: one (1) kit for TD validation and associated IDP validation by the contractor; and two (2) kits for verification of the TDs at two (2) commercial DEPOT activities. The contractor shall deliver the two (2) verification kits to the U.S. Government's central kitting facility in Jacksonville, FL.
