Description
Request for InformationForElectromechanical Actuator Fermi Research Alliance LLC (FRA), operator of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (hereinafter called Fermilab), has issued this Request for Information in furtherance of FRA’s Prime Contract No. DE-AC02-76CH11359 with the United States Department of Energy (DOE). Please express your interest in responding to this RFI. Background:The Proton Improvement Plan II (PIP-II) at Fermilab, is to build a 650 MHz prototype cryomodule and electromechanical actuators (EA) will need to be ordered. The undertaking of this upgrade to the existing accelerator complex called PIP-II, is a high-intensity proton facility to support a world-leading neutrino program over the next two decades at Fermilab. PIP-II is an integral part of the upgrades to the Fermilab accelerator complex that will be capable of providing a beam power in excess of 1 MW.General Requirements of EA:FRA is interested in vendors that can provide an EA that can meet the following minimum requirements: Operate in 4-kelvin high vacuum cryogenic environment. Must have proven longevity for this type of application. Shall be a stepper motor, planetary gear reducing system of 1:50 and Ti spindle. Handle axial forces up to 1200N that superconducting radio frequency cavities will reach. A quality control requirement will be testing the EA in a liquid nitrogen bath.Questions: All technical and/or administrative questions must be submitted to Chris RossmanResponse: Your response to this RFI should be submitted no later than close of business on December 22, 2019, to: Chris Rossman, CPPB, CPPO, C.P.M. crossman@fnal.gov. This RFI does not commit Fermilab or the United States Government to pay any costs incurred in the preparation or submission of any response to procure any supplies or services. You should clearly indicate proprietary data in response to this RFI that you do not want disclosed to the public for any purpose or used by Fermilab or the Government except for evaluation purposes.
